Product Engineering Intern – Spectra MVP (Bangalore)

Location: Bangalore (in‑office or at least 2–3 days/week hybrid)
Product: Spectra – model‑driven data infra and intelligence layer for physical operations (https://www.loom.com/share/74fa6adaa9cb43c49489fe22f21c45d1).

What you will do

  • Turn the Loom into a real product
    • Take the flows shown in the Loom (data ingestion → modeling → dashboards/insights) and implement them as an end‑to‑end MVP.
  • Build the Spectra backend
    • Design and implement Postgres schemas for sites, signals, time‑series, KPIs, rules, and alerts.
    • Expose clean REST APIs (Node.js + TypeScript or Python) for ingestion, querying KPIs, and driving the UI.
  • Build simple but solid front‑end screens
    • Using React/Next.js, create 3–5 core screens:
      • Site/asset overview
      • KPI dashboard (OEE, downtime, etc.)
      • Rule/config editor or “pack apply” flow
    • Make them good enough to demo to prospects.
  • Script data and demos
    • Write scripts to generate synthetic operational data (machines, lines, events) so the product is always in a “demo‑ready” state.
  • Iterate directly with founder
    • Weekly cycles: agree scope → build → demo → cut/refine → repeat.

Must‑have skills

  • Strong coding skills in one backend stack:
    • Node.js + TypeScript (preferred) or Python (FastAPI / Django REST).
  • Solid with PostgreSQL:
    • Can design schemas, write joins, and think about basic performance.
  • Basic React/Next.js skills:
    • Can build clean, minimal dashboards and forms (no pixel‑perfect design needed).
  • Comfortable reading long product docs / specs and reducing them to tasks.
  • Mindset: “Ship first, perfect later”, but without breaking the core data model.

Nice to have

  • Any experience with data/analytics/IoT/ops tools.
  • Experience calling LLM/AI APIs to power search, summaries, or rule suggestions.
  • Prior internship or serious side projects in B2B SaaS.

Why this is interesting

  • You are building the first real version of Ops Infra Spectra, not a side module.
  • You work directly with the founder; zero bureaucracy.
  • If this goes well, this converts to a founding engineer‑track role.
