Role Overview

As a Backend Developer at Flameback, you will build, and maintain our RESTful and Socket-based APIs, services, and data models. You will collaborate closely with frontend, quant, and other teams to deliver robust, scalable, and performant features. Ideal candidates will have a strong Python/Django background and a working knowledge of DevOps practices to streamline deployment and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Django/Django REST Framework.
• Optimize database schemas and queries.
• Build and secure REST and WebSocket endpoints for high-volume trading workflows.
• Integrate with third-party systems (broker APIs, market-data providers, etc)
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration) to ensure code quality and prevent regressions.
• Collaborate with DevOps to define CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code and monitoring.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to uphold best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement resilient error handling.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience with Python and Django.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and WebSocket / TCP-Socket communication.
• Experience working with Celery / async task queues.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, partitioning) and Redis.
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, documented and well-tested code (pytest, Django tests).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and microservices architecture.
• Strong Git skills and experience with code review workflows (GitHub/GitLab).

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Exposure to AWS ECS/Fargate, Azure Container Instances, or GCP Cloud Run.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack).
• Understanding of secrets management solutions (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault) and TLS certificate handling.
• Basic scripting for automated deployments and health-check tooling.
• Exposure to Machine Learning algorithms and related libraries like TensorFlow / PyTorch / scikit-learn, Feature engineering & data pipelines (Airflow, Pandas).
• A basic understanding about capital markets and how they function.
